Oh My Gosh Brigadeiros

What I Got: I decided to fully invest in the Brigadeiro experience and opted for not one, but two flavours. The “Oh My Gosh” specialty was my first choice, followed by a more classic “Traditional Milk” brigadeiro. By the recommendation of another customer, I also ordered the “Cake Jar” (not pictured) concoction topped off with a “Hot Choco w/Rim.” Sure enough, I left with a slight headache from all the sugar I consumed but it was well worth it.

Reason to Go: From Brazil to Miami, Oh My Gosh Brigadeiros is more than just another cute dessert joint in Miami. It comes with a history well worth the calories. The brigadeiro, a traditional Brazilian dessert, is made from condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter and chocolate sprinkles. According to the establishment’s website, the story of the Brigadeiro traces back to the start of the presidential campiagn of Brazilian politician Eduardo Gomes in 1945. Campaign events would feature the brigadeiro which in turn heightened the popularity of the confection. Their menu offers 15 different brigadeiro flavours and a nice selection of coffees and decorative hot drinks. In addition to their list of sweet treats, they offer dessert jars and brownies all served with a large scoop of ice cream. Located in the idyllic city of Coral Gables, it’s a nice trip for those looking to try something new in Florida.
